What are the 5 sites (places) should I go to in Japan? (and not miss out)? |
Travel Info Yesh sir I'm going to Japan for 4 or 5 days and i was wondering what would be the best 5 places I should go to, and not miss out =D? Travel Tips Kyoto--Kinkakuji Nara--Deer park and some of the near by temples Hiroshima--Peace Park and Miyajima Island Tokyo--Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace Source(s): http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/ http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e623.html... http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/d... Other Travel Tips Best 5 (if fly in and stay around Osaka) 1. Hiroshima Peace Park 2. Miyajima (Hiroshima) 3. Himeji Castle 4. Kiyomizudera (Kyoto) 5. Todaiji (Nara) Alternate 5 (if fly in and stay around Tokyo) 1. Climb Mt Fuji 2. Akikibahara 3. Kamakura 4. Nikko 5. Baseball @ a packed Tokyo Dome i believe some of the temples and statues in deer park were built by people from the Goryo dynasty. they came over to help the Japanese. it is recorded in historical texts and it is a fact, but those people arent given much credit and hidden from the public as from many other things in Japan.. (it is sad.) i guess togu palace in tokyo would be a wonder. Japan is a large place full of things to see so if you only have 5 days, you're really going to need to focus on one area. Pick a city like Tokyo or Kyoto and just go from there. Top 5 picks for Tokyo (and surrounding area) 1) Imperial Gardens 2) Akihabara, Shinjuku, Roppongi, Odaiba - Different neighbourhoods in Tokyo with a lot to offer. 3) Kawasaki-City Japanese House Museum - it's like stepping into the past. There's over 20 different historical houses there. 4) Meiji Shrine & Yoyogi park. 5) Tokyo Tower - It's kinda cheesy but if you can't get to the Eifel Tower in Paris, it's the closest you have. Top 5 picks for Kyoto (and surrounding area): 1) Imperial Palace: The Emperor's residence up until the 1860's 2) Nara - The deer walk through the streets, watch it because they will come up to you and grab any food you're carrying. 3) Osaka-jo: The Castle in Osaka. 4) Kinkakuji - The famous Golden Temple (that's actually covered in real gold) 5) Heian Shrine Now if you've got the time, and you have the inclination to travel, here's some more places you'll want to visit: 1) Hiroshima - The peace pavilion. 2) Miyajima - The famous "floating" gate 3) Nikko - Lots of temples and monkeys 4) Kamakura - Famous for the huge Buddha. 5) Shinsaibashi - entertainment district in Osaka I agree with everyone except "realization"!! Togu Palace is not the Imperial Palace but the residential grounds of the Crown Prince and his brother, however on the other ends of the grounds and is not open to public viewing. If you are staying in Tokyo as a base to travel, you will have to consider day trips, Nikko, Kamakura, Tokyo tour, and maybe if you wake up early enough Kyoto, and then Hakone would be nice. If you are staying in another part of Japan, you would have to say where, for more places to see. Japan is a long, small, but long country, from tropical to cool winter lands in the north. |
