Did UK really sell lambs as poodles to Japan? |
Travel Info http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-200... Travel Tips I just read Maiko Kawakami's blog. I see UK is in desperate need of qualified translators/interpreters from Japanese, if the press spreads such misheard rumors. What really Maiko said. She said that in the nail saloon she regularly visits, one of the clients spoke about a friend of her. So the story is heard and retold by Maiko, but has nothing to do with her. On her HP, there have been few comments saying that "I have heard something similar", but noone has declared that he or she is a victim of such fraud. Maiko seemed hurt by seeing how easily the world media accepted the rumor as an obvious truth. Such thing has never existed in Japan, this is one urban legend only! Source(s): http://www.anan.ne.jp/kawakami/pages/dia... This is Maiko's blog, where she tells the truth about all this sheep stuff. Other Travel Tips LOL-Even if the purchasers were that clueless, the animal quarantine vets might notice they were sheep during the 6 or so months they would hold them. If only it was that easy to send live animals to Japan....legit breeders would do really well. That's an urban legend. While I know of a few Japanese ladies that would love to have a pet lamb, nobody is really that clueless to allow an animal like that as a pet. It's an urban myth, every country has a simillar story of some sort. It is usually born out of racism. Check out this article in the Japan times (it's the second article down not the first one) http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/f... This kind of story as the article states is to make one race seem inferior compared to another, sad but true. Japan Times |
