Travel Info Can you get to Japan without flying? i have fear of planes!? Travel Tips Where are you travelling from? I also hate flying, so long time ago (6 years???) I researched the way to go to Japan from Europe (so this info might be bit old). It takes 5 days by the Siberian train from the end of Russia to the other end of Russia (to the Japan end). From Vladivostok (Russia), I think there is a ship service to Niigata and it takes over night. I thought, hey, flying 12 hours doesn't seem THAT bad compared to travelling nearly a week on a train and ship. So I flew 12 hours and I was glad I did. It wasn't really that bad because while you eat, watch films and sleep, you get to Japan easily, no hassle!!! If you are travelling from other part of the globe...sorry, I can't help you.. But well I really understand you hate flying. I still hate flying. So good luck ;) Others swim and walk You can go there by ship. http://gojapan.about.com/od/shiptravel/s... when my daddy was in the army and we were stationed in japan we took a ship back to the states. took about 3 weeks. go to your doctor and get some zanax or valium and you;ll be fine to fly you can go as a paying passenger on a cargo ship but i believe its quite costly....you should be able to find something on the net!! You can get there by cruise ship or by submarine although either way, takes much longer than to reach there by plane. Can you say 'boat'? |
