How's the attitude towards racial diversity in japan?

Travel Info
I would like to know what the japanese people's general attitude towards black people living in japan is like? I was thinking of getting a second degree and would realy like to get it from a japanese university. I'm a 22 year old african and was wondering if my being black would negatively effect my application into a japanese university and my stay with the japanese people?

Travel Tips
In Japan, a foreigner is always a foreigner.

However, they won't be racist to you. The Japanese are kind to people of all races and cultures.
Others
Probably not going to be a problem in uni as many Japanese young people are very interested and curious about black people. Probably find yourself a girlfriend pretty quickly too. Most people are friendly towards foreigners and are happy to make friends with anyone, but some people (depending on how brainwashed or xenophobic they are) will probably be afraid of you.
Sorry (thumbs down folks) Lived here 10 years. Have many black, Middle Eastern, White, Indian and other Asian friends here. The attitudes are exactly as I described. This is Tokyo. You can expect the same everywhere.
Japanese people are very welcoming and kind especially to foreigners. It's just how they are raised. People in japan are taught to be respectful

Don't worry, japanese attitude towards black people is just same as whites people. Many Japanese are afraid of talking to foreigners, because they aren't confident in English speaking ability, so you better to master Japanese as sooner as possible and talk to them without hesitating.

I wish you well with your new life in Japan
In the big city, not a problem, really. The Japanese are very welcoming to foreigners, and quite polite. However, you should expect some people to look at you a lot. Japan is a country of conformation, and they will look at things that are different. It's not racism, it's just that foreign people are different. If you go to Tokyo, you will find that there's a good number of Africans. There's a lot of curiosity towards African culture in Japan, too. You should be able to make friends easily, and have a very good experience.

While what I say is generally quite positive, there are some people who have turned away African customers from their stores. I believe this is quite isolated, but I have heard of it happening. But don't worry, I don't think you will experience this much, if at all.

The main thing about going into a Japanese university is that you need to have some Japanese language skill. That may affect the application a bit, but there are English language universities in Japan.
But I have a question.
Do you speak Japanese and have got JLPT? Only a few Univs hold a class in English.
And common Japanese don't understand English.

And Japan is not like the US and Europe.
There is no racial diversity, not only Japan but also East Asian nations.
You won't be in big trouble. But remember, more than 98% of the population in Japan is Japanese. They are homogeneous nation. You can not expect cultural diversity. you need to follow Japanese style (if you wanna join Japanese society).
