Requirements for visiting relatives in japan?

Travel Info
i want to invite my auntie to visit me her in japan, shes a sister of my mother. what are the requirements? from me and my husband

Travel Tips
If they are going to just visit you for a week or so, and they are American, or from a country in good diplomatic standing with the Japanese government, there are no outstanding requirements. They can come over on a tourist visa which they will receive at immigration/customs upon entering Japan. The visa will be good for 90 day so a short stay is no problem. If they want to do something other than just visit, like work, or engage in business, they will be required to get the appropriate visa. You and your husband do not need to do anything accept pick them up from the airport and be a good host.

Enjoy their visit. Source(s): Me. I have been living in Japan for over 15 years and I have had family members and friends come and visit. No problem.

Other Travel Tips
I lived in Japan (military) and the Japanese are very nice, but they have polite matters. They like to bow when you greet, and you really need to know your chopsticks. This is weird but its ok to slurp your soup, its actually respectful.
Secure a Tourist Visa and Passport
your aunt should have an invitation letter and an itinerary.

The invitation comes from you, and is addressed to the embassy; it states your relation to her, the purpose of visit, where she will stay (and can be contacted). It should also provide information that you can be a guarantor for her.

She should bring this in her application for visa in the japanese embassy, along with other requirements.

If they are staying less than three months all they need is their passport and a return ticket. They will be issued a tourist visa at the airport. Staying longer than three months is much trickier. For that you will have to get details through the Japanese Embassy and the most likely option would be getting them a dependant visa.
if you are filipino ,employed and have the capacity to support your relatives you need to write an invitation letter or guarantee letter addressing to the consul stating your intentions plus your income tax statement and xerox of your valid passport.same is applied if your husband will sponsor their trip.guarantee letter format can be downloaded in the phil.embassy site
