About Japanese men and a typical Japanese family.? |
Travel Info Is it true that Japanese men heads the family? How? I was told that Japanese society is male-dominated. I have a friend who told me that men are the one who manage the household, and that women are just expected to stay at home and be a housekeeper. The man is the one who keeps and budget the money. He would give only to his wife only what is enough for the family. Is this true in many cases? Travel Tips thats not completely true. my aunt goes to work and she lives in japan. the mens are the head of the house. the bugeting really depend on who the people are. Others Actually, when it comes to "family affairs", it is traditionally the woman who heads them, because the husband was often at work. Concerning finances, you have it backwords. The salaryman gives his wife the check and she gives HIM the allowance. Those are the traditional roles. Today, I think many women still deal with family finances and family affairs, but many men want to become more involved with their families. Generally the budget controller in Japan is wife. Husbands call their wife as Finance Ministry of his house. And they are afraid of their wife too. The word "male-dominated." is a bit stereo-type. You can say they (female) are also choosing the way they are. Men can not hold a gun to wife's head (cos Japanese do not have a gun. oh...they have small gun? haha...), and the wife has a freedom to runaway. And actually some strong wives beat their hus back easily. Men are afraid of them. Actualy the marital relationship is not that simple thing. Can't be described in one word. And the life is very different from the west. You can't judge this issue by western standards. In the past, It was true that the head of the family was a father. Now, families called Kakaa-Tenka (Wife-dominated ) and Oniyome (literally translated as "demon wife") have emerged, the style of the present Japanese family is of great variety. As for my family, it is neither 銇嬨亱銇傚ぉ涓?nor 浜富闁㈢櫧. I also don't want to control over the woman who is to be my wife. In years past, perhaps it was that way, but now, women are the heads of the families. Men are only figure heads. Women control the money, they are the ones that budget the salary, and they are the ones that give the men their spending money. That is not to say that it is that way in every family. If you want to be really true to the spirit of the question, I would have to answer, it is something that is determined by each individual family. Most of the families I know are the way I explained initially. Me. I have been living in Japan for over 15 year. In a traditional japanese family the men are the head of the house. they are the ones who work and earn money for the family. the wife is the one who cleans and cooks and looks after the children. |
