Travel Tips The most direct route is 71S all the way, However south of DeQueen,AR is winding mountainous roads that you will have to be extremely alert on. If you want to stay mostly on 4 lane roads Take 71 south which turns into Interstate 540 to Interstate 40 west to Little Rock and then Interstate 30 East to Texarkana then 549 south to 71 South to Shreveport. Source(s): Traveled this route many times and prefer to take the most direct route staying on US 71 South/ Interstate 540 for the entire trip bypassing Texarkana useing I-30 W and highway 245 S. Other Travel Tips take 71 south Stacy got it just bout right. The lesson I learned driving truck, pertains to other drivers: Sometimes the shortest route is not the best. An example is going from Atlanta Ga, to Huntsville, AL. The freeways go straight west, then north a state route bisects this (making the base leg of a triangle) The state route's shorter, but all the stopping and slower speed limits meant that it took 3x the time, and twice the fuel. Not only am I a truck driver but I happen to be a car hauler.(even though we don't like to be called truck drivers) Stacy is correct, 71 south gets a little hilly but your alternative choices are much worse (speaking from experience) much better once you get on 40. happy traveling! |
