Does anyone know of any bars in Kansas City, MO that people in their 30's and 40's go to? |
Travel Info We are looking for bar that doesn't just have 21 years olds in it? Travel Tips If you go to Westport relatively early, Kelly's is a great place to hang out with the locals. A couple of doctors, a retired judge, and a plethora of "ordinary joes" hold court from about 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you're still in Westport after Kelly's, I highly recommend the under-appreciated Blayney's. Good jazz jams, great bartenders, two bars (the one upstairs is more of a pub--very quiet and cool), and dancing is strongly encouraged. If you'd like to continue to hit the band scene, I also recommend The Levee, 4235 Baltimore Ave (right off of 42nd and Main). It gets rather crowded and you have to pay a cover (you will also for Blayney's), but you will have a good time, guaranteed. The best part about these three bars? If you're under 30, you will be a bit out of place. I've had so much fun at all three bars, it really is hard to single out just one. Let me know if this helps! Source(s): Me. I lived in and around the Westport-Plaza area for 15 years! Other Travel Tips Anywhere on the Plaza. Kona Grill, Gran Falloon, O'dowds. These are all good bars with a variety of age groups. That's where I would go the nights I have a babysitter. They also have amazing Happy Hour Specials. Kona Grill is known for theirs. Was just in KC last weekend, Tomfooleries or O'Douds east of KC airport couple good places to go. Some of the KC Chiefs hang out at O'Douds, 3 were there last Sat. a.m. Try the Phoenix downtown. They are a "piano bar" and have an older crowd. In Overland Park, American Bandstand tends to have an older crowd. I work on the plaza, so i am pretty familiar with the area. Most anyplace there is going to be full of college age people, with a few older people mixed in. My dad is quite the bachelor, and he hangs out at the Phoenix downtown (like someone else mentioned). Its a great place actually, live jazz all the time. Jardine's is right by the plaza, another jazz place with an older crowd. Those would be my pick for you. Harry's Uptown is in westport and is a little older crowd, but there's no dancing, its a martini bar. Any place that is playing younger music (hip hop, etc) is gonna have a younger crowd, so thats why jazz clubs are a good choice for you. Hope this helps! **THE BLUE ROOM** on vine street.. |
