Travel Info I would like to go fishing in Kansas City Mo, but cant find any guides. or info ? help? Travel Tips On the MO side your best bet would be Smithville Lake and the KS side would be Lake Perry This link will give you a list of all of the fishing holes in the Kansas City area on the MO side http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moat... Also this link will list all the pulic fishindn spots on the Kansas side in the Kansas City area and also reports on the fishing http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/fishing... For Kansas Guides check this link http://www.1fghp.com/ks For MO guides check out this link http://www.1fghp.com/mo.html Others call chamber of commerce newspaper TV Avoid the inner city lakes like Troost Lake, last year someone actually got fish-jacked there. They actually shot a guy for a catfish. Not to mention the pollution problems. East of Lee's Summit is a place called James A. Reed Wildlife Area. There are several lakes and some even have docks you can sit on. Not bad, I was incapacitated for a while due to ankle surgery and I used to spend the day there fishing. They have a lot of limits on size but it is a nice place. In the city there is the Missouri River to fish. Just have to have a Fishing License, pole, hook, line and bait to catch some catfish or carp... DO NOT go fishing in the Missouri River. It is nasty. There's a place in Lawrence called Clinton Lake that is really nice. It's a man made lake, and they've got swimming areas, and a whole bunch of places to fish. They hold the Wakarusa Music Festival there every year. Lawrence is about 30 minutes away from Kansas City, so it's not too far. Hope this helps. I don't live in Kansas City, I live in Lawrence, so I couldn't tell you about places inside of Kansas City |
