Sightseeing in Kansas City, MO area? |
Travel Info My mom and I(i'm 13) want to drive around next weekend just to look at things, because we don't really wanna go spend money somewhere. Is there anything interesting? We've looked at this Cliff neighborhood or something, and went downtown, but we wanna go somewhere else now. Any ideas? Travel Tips Check out these sites. http://www.visitkc.com/ http://www.experiencekc.com/ Others Westport, Oak Park mall. Cabella's stuffed dead animals,or Zona Rosa shopping center are always interesting. Well when I go to KC my fave things to do there are this: $2 movie theatres(one is located on the corner of 40 Highway & Noland Road in Independence, another one is just behind Metro North Mall over on Barry Road in Gladstone) I also love to go browse(usually shop lol) the rummage stores! There is 6 of them along North Oak Trafficway in Gladstone. Also if you and your mom are into the arts you should go to the Nelson-Atkins Museum by the Plaza. You can spend a whole day there for free! I hope I helped some. go to union station and the liberty memorial it is so fun to go up there. e-mail me sometime i love to here from ya. beatheny@yahoo.com I like to walk around the Plaza. There's a park called Mill Creek Park with the big fountains and lots of people to watch. Try 18th and Vine district where you can hear live jazz and visit the very cool Negro Leagues baseball museum. Go to Crown Center You gotta eat sometime. Authur Bryant's truly is the best BarBQ on the planet, but go to the original on Brooklyn Ave not the new places. Split the ribs or a sandwich with your mom. Servings are gigantic. Be sure to get a side of fries. Try the original "gritty" sauce. (warmer weather) Swap Meets are fun on Saturdays I70 Drive In or Blvd Drive In on Marriam Lane. Garage sales on thurdays and fridays Check KC Star for $2 Movie houses. Get a copy of latest "Pitch" magazine to see what bands are playing where. Buy a cheap hot chocolate at Quick Trip, sip it at Starbucks on the Plaza. There are so many things to see in KC but you need to see the Plaza lights down near Westport. It is a winter wonderland with frozen over fountains and Ali Baba like castles lit by merchant Christmas lights. I drive 950 miles ( one way from Texas ) just to see them every other year and that is just one way.You may even want to spring for a horse drawn sleigh ride! The Grand Central Station has been renovated and is in the same area of town if you want to eat and hang out some where interesting and warm........ |
