Anybody out there know anything about MO? I am thinking Kansas City. I want to move to a good area.?

Travel Info
Preferably country, with a couple of acres, but still within 1-2 hours away from a city. How bad are the tornadoes there?

Travel Tips
One of the best school districts is around 30-45 min. east of K.C., in Jackson county You can choose from. Oak Grove is a small town with a pop. under 3000 and an excellent environment, but boring. I grew up here and my parents still live there. You can purchase acreage just about any where outside town. I can also suggest anywhere in Miami county, though it looks that it will not be country for long and I dont know anything about the schools, but it is close to the airport, travel time to mid town is about 30-45 min. There are also towns in K.C. Kansas such as Bonner Springs, Desoto these are in Wyandotte and Miami county Ks. Just stay east and north of K.C.Mo. and West and North of K.C.K. There is also Johnson county Ks., this is higher end living but no acreage. There is always a risk of tornado's, I have lived in the area for 30 years and have never even seen one. Welcome to the Bible Belt and good luck

MOE ROCKS!.....oh wait soory i thought you meant the band.....I hear the weather gets cold during winter and the intrest rate for housings realistic (in comparison to upper middle class)
i live in Kansas City Missouri and if your a country girl then i suggest you move to Pleasant Hill or Holden or some where around there because my family and i own 75 acres about 5 miles away from hold and we go there almost every weekend and just hang out to get away from all the lights and noises that are in the middle of the city (which is around where i live)
so i really hope this helps!!!!!!!!

and in the country there are some tornadoes but not bad enough to do allot of damage!!!
and i agree with the last commenter there are allot of good school districts especially in pleasant hill
North is the only way to go. A lot of rural area north of greater K.C. within easy driving range of the city you have both i-29 and I-35 that will take you to the city. Within 1 or 2 hours you can be almost to the Iowa border. Check out Clay, Platte, And Clinton County's. All are an easy drive to the city. My favorite Plattsburg in Clinton County.
I have lived in Kansas City for all of my 29 years and I've never seen a tornado so I really wouldn't worry about that!

Like others said, if you are looking to live in the country, look north of Kansas City (up I-35) or east of Kansas City (out I-70 east). My cousins live in Cameron Missouri which is an hour north of the city and to me it is the middle of nowhere, but they are country folk so they like it. :)
Tornadoes not bad, my house was built in 1955 and is still standing. I would suggest living on the MO side as the cost is cheaper. As far as an area I would suggest Greenwood, Lake Winnebago, Belton...its depends on what your budget is. Stay away from address with the Kansas City proper name. usually nasty neighboorhoods as well as the dreaded "city" tax.
Live in Belton, MO
