Anything interesting to do in Overland Park, KS? |
Travel Info I will be traveling to Kansas City, KS (Overland Park) for the first time in the beginning of May. I will be working 8-5pm during the week but I need some good tourist information on shopping, restaurants, hotels, nightlife and etc. Tell me what's up! Travel Tips It depends on what you're in to, I guess... yes, someone mentioned pitch.com--The Pitch is a local alternative newspaper with lots of entertainment news. Good places to go include areas called Westport, The Plaza (a little more ritzy), and my personal favorite--the KU Med Center area has a small shopping area and some great restaurants. Like Thai food? Just about every Thai restaurant in KC is fabulous! Like barbecue? We got the best. There's a renassaince festival, during the summer Starlight Theatre has entertainment under the stars. Kansas Speedway if you like racing, and several fun shopping districts. You'll be fine! Others Go to pitch.com, it's a weekly newspaper that caters to the entertainment side of Kansas City. They have a list of everything your looking for. you can go to the plaza. it has great restaurants, shops, and fountains. It's about a half hour from Overland Park. You can also go to Worlds of Fun, the local amusement park, it has awesome rides, mild and extreme. You can also go to Kaufman Stadium to watch the Royals play, or Arrowhead Stadium to watch the chiefs or the wizards play. You can also go to the Kansas City Music Hall for musicals. Okay first of all. I live in Kansas City Kansas, and I work in Overland Park. These are two different cities and are about 30 minutes from each other. Sorry - I had to clear that up. In Overland Park there is lots of shopping like Oak Park mall and Town Center Plaza. There is every resturaunt imaginable all up and down Metcalf Ave. I prefer Kansas City Kansas because of the Legends at Village West. KCKS has more night life in my opinion because we have Dave and Busters, Pin Up Bowl (adult bowling alley) and much of the same shopping and places to eat that Overland Park has. Have fun~!! THE PLAZA- ABOUT 30 MINUTES FROM OAK PARK OAK PARK MALL CROWN CENTER PLAZA VILLIAGE WEST BRIO- RESTERAUNT ON THE PLAZA ROSEDALE BARBEQUE- REALLY GOOD 7TH STREET BARBEQUE i agree with the first guy, all you need is a Pitch Weekley free newspaper, (or just look it up online!) it will list any and everything you would want to do in the area. |
