Travel Info Thinking about moving to Missouri. I would like to hear the pros & cons of living there. Thanks!? Travel Tips Don't move to St. Louis! I mean... parts of it are nice but I wouldn't suggest living there. If you are going to move anywhere... move to Kansas City. I have lived in Rhode Island, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Alabama. I have lived in Kansas City, Missouri for 9 years and it my favorite place! Everyone here is nice and so many parts of it are just beautiful. Ok.. people are talking about cheap houses... it depends on where you buy. My house is in a nice neighborhood in a suburb of Kansas City (Lee's Summit) and when we bought it.. it was 3,400 sq ft. 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath. We bought it and added a bedroom, bathroom, theatre, bar, and extended the deck. It is now about 4,100 sq. ft. We bought it for I think $315,000. We just had it appraised because we are building a house somewhere else and it was appraised for $475,000. The real estate in Kansas City is VERY good. The size of house you get for the value is amazing. The houses here may be less expensive but... we value them and there are very few neighborhoods in Kansas City that have bad houses. Those neighborhoods would be located closer to the down-town area. If you are interested in older homes... check out Brookside. It is in Kansas City, MO but it is an amazing little area with older homes and restraunts and things like that. If you want a house that was built in the past 10- probably 17 years... check out Lee's Summit (where I live) it is a city that keeps growing and we are improving everything about it... and making it much nicer. Anyway.... Kansas city is the place to live and the only cons of Kansas City is that they are re-doing a lot of things and their will be construction. The only other real con I can think of is not being close to any nice big bodies of water. The pros are endless.... I won't even start because I will keep on going and going. If you are interested in a loft type of living... they have re-done and are still re-doing a lot of the building in downtown kansas city and they are probably some of the coolest places i have ever been in. the girl who said all the stores close at 8 and we are a "early city" has no idea what she is talking about. some stores close earlier than others... usually 9-10 pm (not sure why that matters) lol. but there is a lot going on at night in kansas city. you would love it here!! good luck!! Others If you're a liberal democrat you'll love it. If you're a conservative republican you'll hate it. Well, it all depends on what part of Missouri you are moving to. Kansas City is great because it has culture, great restaurants, The Plaza...everything but a beach or mountains...and you can't beat the home prices. CHEAP!!! Plus, if you have kids, its a healthy and safe place to grow up. I grew up there, went to college there and most of my family still live there. We are the show me state; people here are very friendly. You will find that Missourians talk to everyone. Native Missourians pronounce the state name as Ma-sur-ah so don't be surprised to hear it. http://www.mdc.mo.gov/ http://www.visitmo.com/ http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=mi... well ive been to kansas city missouri and kansas city has very cheap homes compared to the state i come from. my grandmother moved there 2 years ago and loves it there. its very safe and quiet. good for a family. the only thing that sucks at kansas city missouri is that its not the kind of city that stays up late. u woud barely c anyone walking around afetr 8'oclock and all the stores close at 8. |
