Are You in Kansas City?? |
Travel Info If so, what do you find interesting or best about our city? Travel Tips No, but I will be this weekend. I plan on shopping at the Plaza, visiting Great Wolf and seeing family/friends. Others Yes. Well, a suburb of KC. Johnson County (where i live) is one of the wealthiest counties in the US, so its just a pretty place to be. All of the neighborhoods and even the retail shops are pretty and landscaped, and there aren't any junky areas of town where you are scared to be driving around. (Dont get me wrong, KC MO is scary, and KC K too, but the suburbs and then the plaza area are beautiful). There are fountains everywehre in the plaza area (thats why they call it The City of Fountains), and the architecture is amazing. There are a lot of high-end stores there, and wonderful restaurants. I too live in Johnson County. Overland Park Kansas. What I like best about KC is the traffic. We have highways that are full, but everything moves. You don't ever have the gridlock of major cities or the miles of stopped traffic like the west coast. We know how to drive in heavy traffic and it shows. Even our worst days with snow and ice are better the San Diego's or Los Angles traffic. First off, I've lived in Kansas City for 18 years of my 18 year old life. Secondly, the best thing about this city is the BBQ! Nobody does it better than KC! I live in Kansas City, on the Missouri side. I agree that the barbecue is the best, but we also have lots of parks and green space, both funky and high class shopping, and (important for the visitor) the city is laid out on a grid--it's awfully difficult to get lost! It's interesting to shop (or window shop) on the Plaza or in Brookside, visit the Kemper Museum, take a walk around Loose Park, and go to Gate's for barbecue! I live in KC...the rockhill/brookside/plaza area...Kansas City has high end shops on the plaza....We have great food and BBQ. Lots of greenery. Dont go to the inner..inner city/ the ghetto...U might get shot...lol I can tell I'm getting old... Yes, the barbeque is great, the city is laid out decently and I suppose you could say the shopping is good. We have one of the lowest cost of living rates in the US for our size city and that includes housing. What I like most about KC are the people (friendly for the most part) and our music. We've got some of the best jazz and blues performers in the world right here. Not to mention our city's history in jazz and blues.
