Living in Kansas? |
Travel Info Do you think Kansas is a good place to live and why? Debating if we should move back to Cali or not. Thank you in advance!! Travel Tips I lived in California in San Diego, Long Beach, and the Sf bay area and moved back to Kansas. The cost of living is a lot lower in Johnson County then any place I lived in California. My rent for a two bedroom duplex with my very own kitchen and bathroom with a yard and garden spot is $425 a month in Olathe, I payed around $900 a month for a studio apartment with a shared kitchen and bathroom in San Francisco. My car Insurance is $750 a year in Olathe,I was paying $300 a month in Long Beach. If you want a alternative to the congestion in most of Johnson County then Gardner is a nice alternative and although in Miami County Spring Hill is a nice place to hang your hat. You have better odds of being in a mudslide, brush fire or a earthquake in California then experiencing a tornado in Kansas. most of the schools in Johnson county are among the best in the country such as The Olathe and The Blue Valley school districts Others Kansas Sucks!!! too may tornadoes for my likening....much rather have my earthquakes. Move back to Cali!!! kansas is ok........if you go near Kc then you will be able to find stuff to do, warm summer, but cold winters... its a toss up but hey best of luck to you I live in Wichita. Very nice city. Plenty of entertainment options, not to mention a much lower cost of living than CA. Granted there are not as many high-paying employment opportunities, but there are plenty of jobs if you are willing to look. We also have character. Keeper of the plains, Old Cowtown, Riverfest, small town feel, and one of the top 5 zoos in the nation. Kansas City is hands down one ot the greatest cities in the United States. I don't know anyone who's had to move away and didn't yearn to move back. We live in Johnson County and the schools are great. It's a higher cost of living than other Kansas countys, but with more benefits. It's not nearly as high as california. There's plently to do here and you get all four seasons. It's not the little "hick state" people assume. Well, some places, but not near the Kansas City area! I love Kansas. Great schools (much better than Ca). Great place to raise a family. |
