Kansas City in October...? |
Travel Info I will be traveling to Kansas City, KS for business in the begining of October. I will have some free time after my meetings, before I have to head back to the airport. Any sights you suggest I see?? Travel Tips Rennisance Festival goes on til mid October. That's a defenate. It is held by the Raceway in Bonner Springs Ks. by Verison Wireless Ampitheater. Ticket prices are about $17 I think. Worlds Of Fun has Halloweekends with numerous little haunted areas at night for older kids and adults......pretty good actors. Friday and Saturday nights they are open til 11 or 12 I think. In the beginning of October usually first weekend the big BBQ festival thing goes on called the American Royal down by Kemper arena in Downtown area. Also down by Kemper are the haunted houses. Only ones really open anymore are The Beast and The Edge of Hell unless they do something with Catacombs this year cuz it's under new management so not sure. But they are really good haunted houses. Lots of money put into it and some great actors. I worked there for 3 years. Most of those are held during the weekends though. So if your not staying through the weekend.... Union Station and Science City off Broadway in Downtown area. The plaza is nice to walk around and admire and shop. Westport has some good shops along with the nightlife here. Parkville has an old town you can walk around through. Been there once and it's nice. Ameristar and Harrah's casinos up north off of 210 hwy. Good restraunts and a couple bars. Hope that helps. Others There's starlight theater, union station, Worlds of Fun, different conventions that are held here through out the year. I would suggest asking your hotel for a local paper or magazine that will show you all the events that are going on around that time... There is so much here that you can do. www.kansascity.com (Kansas City Star) www.myfoxkc.com (Local TV station) www.visitkc.com (tourism site ---might have coupons!) Kansas City is divided by two states---Missouri and Kansas; There is so much to see in both places. There might be a few fall festivals and the foliage should be pretty by then, too. Renasonse Festable K.C. is the city of fountains so go see the fountains The plaza crown center live in K.C. The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri...the Nelson Art Gallery, the Kemper Contemporary Museum of Art...Union Station, just to name a few.... Kansas City is a beautiful place...but you need to get away from the Kansas City, KS side...where it is very industrial... |
