What exactly are the "Gates of Hell" near Topeka, Kansas? |
Travel Info I looked on this one map of tourist attractions in Kansas and I saw, a bit east of Topeka, a site called the Gates of Hell. It said it was Stull, Kansas(?) Is it a cemetery, a church, or what? Travel Tips This is an old, rural cemetary at a highway intersection in Stull, KS. The "town" consists of 3 or 4 homes, a Methodist church, a bait shop, and the cemetary. Used to be that you could drive through the cemetary. Not that there was anything to see, except ordinary graves and headstones. But the local people have taken to locking the cemetary gate to keep out cultists and curiousity seekers. There have been rumors that some folks fascinated with the occult still go there and perform bizarre rituals around Halloween and the Summer and Winter solstices. Frankly, there's not much to see there, and you would have a lot more interesting things to see and do in the area than waste your time going to Stull. Source(s): I live in Topeka, 12 miles from Stull. Other Travel Tips Sounds like a haunted cemetary, when I was googlling I came across this link which sheds more light on it: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tips/geta... For a minute I was hoping that there was a replica of Rodin's "Gates of Hell" in Kansas but oh well... It was a church. Not very exciting to be honest. Go to thess websites and it will give you all the information you ever wanted and maybe then some. www.prairieghosts.com/stull.ht... www.webspawner.com/users/stull... www.washburn.edu/cas/art/cyoho... thebrgs.homestead.com/stull.ht...
