I will be in Kansas City, Mo over the 4th - great fireworks or duds? |
Travel Info If great ones, where? Travel Tips I don't know where those other people are going but the reference about 'goin up in smoke!' OH YES!!!!!! You can't drive down the streets without seeing fireworks out both sides of your windows. Place to see fireworks displays: *KC Royals Stadium *Worlds of Fun *Little town 20 east of KC is Sugar Creek and they have just about the BEST little parade ever. Just bring a sack, because you'll be coming home with more candy than you can handle. Starts around 11 am. With a huge display and band around 8:30pm. *Truman Library! * Lakewood (lees summit) Cool part is, depending on which exact town you are in (say sugar creek) you can start shooting fireworks off 1 week before the 4th and as late as July 10th. ` Others i live in kc area and they are mostly duds It depends on what part of Kansas City you go to. I don't know that the actual "kansas city, mo" has great fireworks. But, some suburbs have really good ones. A lot of places are considering doing them the weekend before because the 4th is on a wednesday. I am not sure... but your best bet is to probably ask the person who you are coming to see or someone you know here. They should know where to go -- depending on where you are staying. It all depends on where you go... personally, we have them over Longview Lake in Lee's Summit and our house is right by there and when they do them, it looks like they are in my backyard.. we live on a big pond right by the lake and its so pretty when they do the fireworks. They do christmas ones also, to music and the back of our house is practically all windows and it just really good!! Check on the web or ask around... you will figure it out. Good Luck!!! We go to Shawnee Mission Park in Lenexa, KS. The fireworks are nice, but plan on taking an hour or more to exit the park afterwards. The traffic is always a nightmare. Are you serious? The entire metro area usually goes up in smoke (literally) around 9:30 p.m. The best fireworks should be by the Liberty Memorial, but I haven't been there in awhile, so you could try Overland Park's extravaganza or Independence's (the home of Harry Truman). Be aware, though, these areas require travel time, if you're in KCMO. Not too much time, but just enough to bug ya. There's a place on KC's west side, in between KCK and KCMO where you can see almost every display in the metro. If anyone can tell the asker that location, I'll be eternally grateful! (: KC during the 4th of July is an AWESOME place to be in the Midwest. I wish I were you, dude/dudette; I wish I were you. BBQ hearty and have fun. Me. KC resident for too many years to count. If the Royals shoot fireworks at the stadium at the game, it's GREAT!! |
