I would expect there are in the other towns as well. There are a ton in Lawrence although most were built after Quantrill's Raid in 1863. You can walk around KU's main campus and the downtown shopping district on Massachusetts street. Go inside Sunflower Bike Shop at 804 Massachusetts and also drive by the Miller House at 19th and Haskell. The Watkins Museum will periodically have walking tours of Quantrill's Raid sites. Here is a link to their website: http://www.watkinsmuseum.org/ Former Lawrence resident Yeah Lawrence has a ton. It even has an old graveyard they call the pioneer graveyard.. sort of by the dorms. By the dorms there is a bridge to the Lied center.. if you cross the bridge going towards the Lied, and turn to your left and walk less than 5 minutes it's there to your left. |
