Things to do in Kansas City in one day?

Hey Guys,

I'm taking a road trip across the country in about a week. One of the stops is Kansas City. I wanted to know from locals or people who have been there... What is the list of must-see things if I only have 1 day there?

Travel Tips

The Country Club Plaza - Oldest outdoor shopping area in the US. Has lots of upscale shops, good restaurants, lots of fountains, and great Spanish inspired architecture.

Nelson Atkins Museum of Art - Nice art museum near the Plaza. Has a great collection of Asian art among other things.

The Liberty Memorial - The only WWI memorial in the US. They recently renovated the museum portion of the monument. You also get great views of the downtown skyline from the monument.

18th & Vine - Legendary jazz district where Charlie Parker, Count Basie and others played. The Negro League Baseball Museum is also in this area.

Barbeque - KC is known for it's barbeque and can be found all over town. On the Plaza, try Fiorella's Jack Stack or Gates (just east of the Plaza). Near 18th & Vine try Arthur Bryants. Source(s): http://www.countryclubplaza.com/...

BUT IT ALSO DEPENDS ON WHICH PART OF KC YOU ARE STOPPING IN.

The Great Wolf Lodge is a great place to go if you like to get wet! There is also the Legends...
Go to the Plaza, have some BBQ
DON"T GOT TO THE GREAT WOLF LODGE. They had a hepatitis incident. Don't go to oak park mall, it's a mall--like all the others in the world--nothing exciting there.

I would go to the plaza for sure, the legends are nice. Worlds of Fun is okay, but kind of expensive--but I still go there a lot with the season pass.
Shakespeare in the park is kind of by the plaza- it's all summer and free. Go to the nelson.
