Kenyan School Holidays?

I am planning on teaching here in Kenya. I was told by a friend here that from August to Sept schools are closed. My Visa expires in October, so I'm expecting to only be able to work May(when I start) to August and leave Aug 1. Anyone know the months off?

Kenyan Education is divided into terms:

The first term starts January and ends late March - the break is in April

Then Second term starts late April Beginning May ends late July Beginning August- then a break in August

Third term begins late August early September and Ends late November With a break till January.

I am not able to give you specific dates as they vary with schools. But the definate holiday months are April,August and December the Schools are all closed. However depending on what level you want to teach some schools are on over the holiday for a few weeks this especially applies to secondary schools. Hope this helps.
