Has anyone trekked it? Which route is the best? Is Tanzania safe in general? Any great tour companies? Any info appreciated!

Travel Tips
Take your time on Kili or any major treks. You should take more days rather than less and make sure the equipment you are renting is of good quality before paying. Mt. Kenya is cheaper and less crowded if you'd rather not just be one of a hundred going up or down at any given time.
