Kenya Travel Tips?

I know this is a broad question, but I hope for a variety of answers. I am spending a month in Kenya this year (from November to December). I'm studying to be a pharmacist and I'm going for school to help patients in clinics, etc...

We will mostly be spending time near Kisumu, but also near Nairobi. What I am looking for are points of interest that would be good for a tourist to visit, good places to eat, things to do for fun, places to get good souvenirs, etc.
