Kenya Shillings/Dollars? |
Travel Info Off to Kenya on holiday in a couple of months. Is it better to take mostly Kenyan Shillings or US dollars? Travel Tips I'd say take the bulk in US dollars, but make sure that you also have plenty of small bills, and that when you are somewhere big, the airport for example, change some of your dollars to shillings. When you buy things from smaller shops or markets, you'll frequently be dealing in small numbers, and if you only have big bills they often "won't have any change" so that's when it is handy to have your small bills. On that theme, if you need change anywhere at anytime, beware letting a market holder wander off with your money to get change. Chances are they won't come back! Most of the people out there are very honest, but its worth having your wits about you. Others US dollars. As a rule of thumb you'd get better rates when you exchange US Dollars for any currentcy at the rates given locally. Unless they are blue-chip currencies like Euros or Yen, then you'd sometimes get best bet in USA. Take travellers cheques if you can. Dollars Have fun |
