Is Kenya (NOT the coast) at high risk for Malaria? |
Travel Info should i take pills? im a 14 yr. old with a relatively good immune system. we MIGHT be going to the coast so i would take pills then, but otherwise we'll be in a hot, dusty area, so should i take them for that? answer wisely, please. p.s, im visiting family. Travel Tips Yes, you should take anti-malarials in the majority of Kenya. You should make an appointment to go to your local travel clinic, where they will advise you on which would be the best, how to take it, when to start taking it etc. They will also be able to provide the pills for you. Others Absolutely you should take anti-malarial pills. Malaria is rampant through the entire country. You can take Doxycylcine once a day or take Malarone once a week. If you are outside of Nairobi and not at high elevation (such as in the Rift Valley), yes you should take anti-malarials. The CDC should be able to tell you if you will be travel in endemic ares, if you tell them your itinerary. My first trip, I took Malarone, which has low side effects but is a once a day pill and generally found to be the most expensive anti-malarial. My 2nd trip, I was not in endemic areas so I did not take an anti-malarial. no you should not take that anti pills, why dont you wait till you see the whole situations, dont worry relax |
