How should I write the address on the front of a letter I am mailing to Korea? |
Travel Info I know that in America the front of a letter looks something like this: John Smith 5050 Bird Street Sunol CA 94586 But the adresses in Korea look different, like this: 121ho samchong-mansion, hadan 1-dong, saha-gu, Busan, 605-828, Korea Is there a special format or shoud I just write it out in one long sentence.? Travel Tips As you were told, start with the biggest entity (city) and go down to apartment number. For example: Seoul (+ postal code), Yongsan-ku, Itaewan-dong, Green Valley Apartments, Building 504, Apartment 14C. Generally, you can put the ku and dong together on a separate line. You can write it in English, the Korean postal service will translate for you when it arrives. You could even use the address as in your question; it will get there. If you write it in Korean, it will get to the recipient much faster, though. Others You can write it in a long sentence. I don't think the order will matter too much as long as you write the right "dong" and "gu" after each specific name, but in Korea, they usually write from big area to small. Like "Gyunggi-do, joongwun-gu, seongnam-shi, guemgwang1-dong, --- Apartment, --- (apartment number)." You go from county, city, district, street, apartment, apartment number...
