What's the climate like in South Korea? |
Travel Info What's the climate like in South Korea? Travel Tips Think New York state weather with a monsoon season in the summer and frigid air moving down from Mongolia in the winter. I've lived in Seoul for the last 12 years and the four seasons have been fairly consistent and well defined although in some years it seems to go straight from winter into summer. Dress warm in the winter and light in the summer. During early spring and late autumn the temps are much cooler at night than during the day. Following the almost daily rains during the monsoon season it usually becomes very humid. Severe floods nation-wide are not uncommon. Last summer's humidity was exceptionally bad - I had one electric bill of more than $500 for one month because of A/C use. Others Korea has all 4 seasons. So it would be impossible to tell the certain climate since it's not like California or Alaska. Although whole Korean peninsula is affected by all seasons, North Korea is relatively colder, obviously. Experience the problem with the four seasons thing is that you need clothes for that particular season....lots of clothes....hmmm ahhhh.... Hot summers and VERY COLD winters I am from LA and I had my first Korean winter. OUCH!!! Four seasons. The best time to go is Spring and Fall. I just got back yesterday from Seoul, and during that time April 21- 28th, it didn't rain once, with temps in the upper 60s and lows about 50. |
