Sorry to be the downer, it is darn near impossible. January of this year brought major changes to adoptionlaw in Korea. The number of children availablke for internationaladoption has drastically decreased with the adoptive parent waits set to be about 3 years (yes really 3 years) LIving in Korea as a foreigner makes it even more difficult because you hav eto go through your own country to find an adoption agency to work with you and the Korean government and the orphange. So essentially the mail is going in a really large circle that woudl normally besmaller and take less tiem were you living in your own country.
A home study is needed and so are health checks of all family memebers and interviews of all also. You must be married a minimum of 3 years and be at least 25 years old. The oldest spouse cannot be older that 43 (maybe younger now the law changed) you must have a certain income level also dependant upon how many other children you have.
Korea only deals with certain adoption agencies make sure you select one of them or you will have to pay your agency to go through the right adoption agency which will be like paying two adoption agencies.
Now back to local orphanages in Korea. There are no agencies in Korea who do local adoptions, they all stopped at varying times in the last 5 years. BUT if you find an orphange with a renegade director (I say this endearingly) who is willing to do a private adoption you maybe have foudn a way. Tread carefully though there is a fine line between that and bribery across language barriers it is difficult to be misunderstood. A private adoption requires that the child to be adopted live with/partially with the family for at least 2 years both spouses must be available for the paperwork and have seen the child before the adoption paper work is done. I said renegade earlier because many orphanage workers feel the new laws do not take the children into account and that they should be placed with families if they are available. But it all rounds back to money most orphanges recieve government sponsorship and who bites the hand that feeds?
I recommend you join one of the many korea adoption forums available online for furhter advice and suport.
The process is long and tedious, full of tears and anguish. I wish you strenght of heart and mind, at many timees you will feel like there is nobody willing to help you, persevere. Adopting a child is a wonderful wonderful way to add to your family. I wish you much happiness and may blessings. Source(s): Big, huge, sigh. personal ongoing experience. Feel free to email me with any other questions.

I think so. But I don't know much about it. I will attach website for adoption. Go and have a look and also you may contact with them. http://www.holt.or.kr

:)
I know a lot of American come to Korea to adopt because rules are more lenient in Korea. A few decades ago (and maybe now, too, if I am not mistaken), there were so many kids being adopted by foreigners, it was as if they were "exporting" chiliden.

There's a famous one called, Holt Children's Services (http://www.holt.or.kr/). They should know everything about adoption from A to Z.
Yes, but you have to have $$$ and I believe there is a background check, among other things.
I dont know although sometimes i wished i was adopted and lived someplace else!
I suggest contacting the Pearl S. Buck foundation. They deal with oprhans and adoptions.
