Work Visa?

Travel Info
I have a job in Korea. I was wondering how long does it take to get a work visa if I go to the Korean embassy in Seattle, WA. If I go there that day will I get the visa the same day or do I have to wait a couple of weeks?

Travel Tips
Ok, so here is the scoop. You cannot get your visa the same day. It takes a couple of days, but you also need all the processing done at this end first. If you are getting a teaching job that means sending your original degree or a copy notarized at the Korean embassy there to Korea first. You will have to send the school that, plus a sealed transcript, signed contract and a couple of passport sized photos. Best way is to overnight it, that way someone on this end has to sign for it. The transcript has to be in a sealed envelope sealed by the school, usually with a mark over the seal fromt he school. I went to the embassy in Toronto one day and had to go back 3 days later. All the other stuff previous to that took almost a month of mailing things back and forth, but I think they have improved drastically on that. When I did it I had to get a piece of paper from here for the embassy there. Now they just give you a number that you give to the embassy and they look it up on the computer and voila there you are. Still have to leave the passport there for a couple of days though. Sorry, should be quicker now, but still that wait at the embassy. Source(s): About to go get my 3rd work visa for South Korea.

SUPER ANSWER

ABOUT SIX MONTHS.
The consulate claims that, if you have all of your paperwork already set up and you are already approved by immigration in Korea (handled by the job you're coming to) that you should be able to drop off your application form and passport and pick everything, including your visa, up within a few hours.

When I went to get my visa they initially told me it would be ready in three hours, but then called and told me they were having a problem with immigration in Korea, so I would need to come back and pick it up the next day.
Got a visa last August from the Seattle consulate
