Japan vs korea (in a business and national sense)? |
Travel Info why is there so much rivalry between the two nations? i can understand the reason, historically, but are there any recent agitations business-wise (so for example between samsung & sony, hyundai vs honda)? i know the dokdo stuff but why do aisans feel so inclined to oppose either japan or korea? Travel Tips Since the Japanese government refused to accept responsibility for the atrocities committed by their army during 50 years of occupation and war, the Koreans are just a little upset with them. The Koreans are not going to get over this until the Japanese admit their responsibility and attempt to atone to the Korean women who were forced into prostitution to service the Japanese army. Others Much of the reason why China and Korea continue to bring up Japan's WWII crimes is because they are economic competitors and Japan has been very successful. I understand both sides of the bitterness: -Japan has made numerous appologies and has payed a lot of money in reparations, so they feel as though China and South Korea need to let it go and move forward. -On the other hand, South Koreans and Chinese have renewed anger when the the former Prime Minister made visits to the Yasukuni Shrine AS the Prime Minister instead of as a regular citizen. Also, there are still women in these nations who want compensation for claims that they were victims of rape during the war that have not been compensated. But, to answer your question, most of the modern hatred for Japan in China and Korea is fueled by Japan's economic success. South Korea is actually successful, as well, but they do compete with Japan, so there is a rivalry. China is rising, as well, but Japan's success has been fairly constant for many years. There is also the fact that Japan wants to become a permanent member of the United Nations, which China is very much against. Japan's war crimes are brought up against Japan in hopes that they will be denied a permanent seat. We are the only two nation in the world eating sticky rice! ^.^ Amazing, isn't it? (Everyone else eats fluffy rice~) Going as far back as the Joseon Dynasty Japan had exercised extreme imperialism upon the Korean penninsula. It wasn't until 1945 and several wars later that Korea finally ridded itself of the Japanese force. The fact that the Japanese took Korean women in WWII as prostitutes doesn't help their impression much either. If you ask any Korean seriously if they like Japan or not, they will probably grimace and say no. From childhood Korean children are taught that Japanese people are two-faced and underminded. This has created an inferior feeling among Koreans in the Nationalistic, business, sports, and technological world. Especially in the sports world, anytime there's any kind of competition between Japan and Korea there is a huge sense of Nationalism among the South Koreans, and everyone is glued to their T.V. sets. a.e.: Soccer, Baseball, Martial Arts. In the technological field anytime Korean companies feel quite inferior to Japanese companies. Japans GDP is 2nd in the world and Korea's GDP is 12th, so right there you can see the competition. Especially in the robotics field. Korea and Japan always come out with "better then them" designs yearly. Lived in Korea for 8 years Teach Korean adults English Check the posters of those comparing question. Most of them are Korean. Japan is Japan and don't care about Korea. Leave Japan alone. im not japanese or korean but i dont think theres a rivalry between the 2 countries about business or what so ever because japan is really and STILL the best. korea and china are mostly the second rate of those products. everywhere in US or in every asian countries, they much really trusted japan made. oh? and as everybody all know. japan is the most successful and richest country in Asia. korea is really behind! so, they cant be really rivals. maybe china and japan because china is somewhat big! ayt? =) |
