Is it hard to learn the Korean language? |
Travel Info i'm very much interested with it. but, is it very complicated? is there any way that i can learn it fast? Travel Tips Languages are only "hard" if you don't have a positive attitude! Korean, from my experience, is one of the most scientific languages there is. With the right resources and attitude you can pick it up pretty quickly. For learning the Hangul (Korean alphabet) I suggest obtaining Declan Korean. It's the best program I have seen for pronouncing the characters and learning them. There are also many websites you can use online. Since English is a Subject Verb Object language, it's sometimes difficult for people to get used to languages like Korean that are different. Korean is a Subject Object Verb language. Fortunately, English is the hardest language to learn - so if you can learn English you can learn anything! To be fluent, I suggest buying the KLEAR (Korean Language Education and Research center.. Start with Integrated Korean Beginning 1) series of Korean language books. As for learning fast... It depends. There is no way to be fluent in any language fast, but you can learn key phrases and words to get by on. To be fluent you might want to invest in some good books and a class/tutor. If you are thrown into an environment where you can only speak that language, you can pick it up pretty fast (it's easier if you have a basic understanding of the language first though..) If you have a Korean friend they can help you. If not you can post up some fliers and offer some money (it's the cheapest option). You can gear lessons around a situation and then study the words/phrases afterwards (such as shopping.. have some basic vocab words, and then sentences such as "How much is this?" "That is cheap" "That is expensive" etc..) Doing this would get you by, and help you to develop "an ear" for that language, so when a native speaker is talking to you then you can understand and it doesn't sound like jibberish. Also, Immerse yourself! Get Korean movies and music! One of the more popular Korean movies out right now is "My Sassy Girl" and can also help you to hear and pick up on words :) There are also many websites. My two favorites are: www.learn-korean.net and www.teenkorean.com There are many more, just search on yahoo ;) Sorry for a long reply :P Source(s): I'm a bit of a linguist.. Speak Japanese, Chinese, Korean and am going to learn more :) Also, I am studying in China and Korea this summer. Other Travel Tips me too.. it seems not very difficult to learn it . welcome to my free forum :www.forumgogo.com |
