Travel Info Any suggestions for a day trip to mount sorak in korea? Travel Tips I have actually never been there but know a bit about it so I can offer you some suggestions... Well, it is located in the Taebaek Mountain range and is the 3rd highest in Korea I believe.. It is absolutely breathtaking. Mostly there's gonna be a lot of outdoorsy opportunities for you so I hope you are somewhat adventurous. It's very popular for hiking, camping, and climbing. Also, there is the Waterpia Hot Spring Resort that has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and sauna. There are several popular traditional temples that I'm not too sure what they're called, but it seems to be a popular attraction. I don't know how familiar you are with Korea/Korean, but if you are new to it and don't really know the language, I suggest some kind of tour. If you are familiar with Korean and know how to get around, you should just go. You should probably make reservations though. There is a hot spring resort if you're into that sort of thing Others You didn;t give any details of where you are coming from, but here are some general tips: Mt Sorak will be very crowded on a nice day... START EARLY! Koreans love to hike but they generally do not get up with the dawn. You could be stopping for your lunch when they are just rolling in. Plan on spending the entire day. It will get chillier as you go up, so dress in layers. and BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. As there is everywhere in Korea, there will be plenty of places ot buy your snacks, but once you are outside of Seoul, these items lean towards heavy Korean favorites. (note* dried squid will be plentiful) Bring a camera, and if you are into meditation or art, bring a sitting mat/blanket and a sketch pad. Mt Sorak is truly inspiring. Plan to eat your dinner in the town at the base, in one of the "temple food" restaurants. This will complete the experience for you. |
