What is the average gas price in south korea? |
Travel Info what is the average gas price in south korea? in usd (or at the very leas in won...) Travel Tips The gas prices are rising over here these days. I'm paying 1,689 won per liter. That translates into about $1.60 USD per liter. To fill up my Sonata I usually pay around 82,000 won or $82 USD. It's around $5.25 a gallon in U.S. standards. Others Yes, that's about right.. although it does NOT slow down the yearning to own a car in Seoul! South Korea has about 46 million people in an area the size of Indiana, but still, they want to own a car and have that freedom. Seoul srets are choked with traffic. Mot will drive their cars to work on moday, but leave them there and use mass transport al week, then drive the car home on friday for weekend use. Thsi makes monday a.m. and friday p.m. driving THE WORST. Even at $5 plus/gallon, my neighbor has a HUMMER. No gas price will stop the wealthy, and car ownership is seen as a western & wealthy, read: desirable, way of life. Gas is about USD 5.00 per gallon or a little more (after conversion from won and liters). Actually, the increase has been less in Korea than in the US recently. When I first lived in Korea (early 1980s), gas was about USD 4.00 per gallon in Korea and USD 1.50 per gallon in the US. With gas in the US now about USD 3.25 a gallon, Korean prices have been more stable. it's more than double. may be triple soon. |
