South Korean with Tourist Visa in USA.. please help~? |
Travel Info My girlfriend is a citizen of South Korea and visited the USA on a tourist visa when she met me. Her 6 month visa was soon to expire, so she went back to Korea last week and is planning to return to New York City in 1 month to start looking for schools and plan for an F-1 student visa. However, on her return, she will again be visiting on a tourist visa. She will claim that her purpose of visit is to search for schools. Here is my question : The day after my girlfriend arrives, we plan on taking a short, 1-week trip outside of the continental USA. I am a US citizen, so I have no reason to have any problem upon my return to the US. However, will my girlfriend run into any problems upon return to the USA? Of course, she will need her passport (S. Korean), but will the fact that she has stated her intent to search for schools 'contradict' her travelling behavior in the eyes of the customs agent? I would appreciate your input. Thanks! Travel Tips Like Eun said, she can travel freely in and out of the U.S on a tourist visa. Just make sure she has an ongoing flight every time she arrives in the states. Koreans cannot travel to the states on a one way ticket, they must always have an ongoing ticket going somewhere else. Koreans are usually granted with a 10 year tourist visa by the way. You'll be seeing another immigration (not customs) officer when you arrive back in the U.S. its a million to one you'll see the same one again or that they would recognize you. No need to worry my friend. Others You do not say where you are going???? canada? mexico? She is on a tourist visa when she returns. These do not come with restrictions a\other than the time limit. If she chooses to travel elsewhere during that time, she can do so if the country you are going to allows her in... She should have no trouble returning to the US as long as she is within her alloted Tourist visa time frame. Did you check wit the country you are visiting for other restrictions? No problem. I am Korean citizen and I travel with a US tourist visa in and out of US. As long as it is not expired you should have no problem. |
