Travel Info My natwest debit card is not working in south korea - no shops accept it - how come? Travel Tips Yes Nat west is not very good abroad either. Others Call the bank that the card is issued and let them know you are in South Korea and lift the block on it You may have tried this, but in case you haven't... try an atm at a Mini-stop or Family Mart, a lot of times they're very foreign card friendly. Also, atm's at airports and train stations often accept foreign cards. For the first 2 weeks I was in Korea I had to go to the train station to get out money... :( Sorry man. When you say 'no shops accept it', do you mean that the shp will not take your card for payment or that it is accepted for payment but keeps getting declined when it is swiped? If your Natwest card is only badged with Solo or Switch, the card will not work outside the UK. If the card is badged as a Maestro card, you can use the card where Maestro cards are accepted. If the card is accepted at the merchant, it may be that Natwest are declining the transaction as fraudulent. Phone them up, tell them where you are and explain what is happening. You may need your card reissued as if Natwest have blocked the card, the chip will not allow the card to be used again. |
