Best gift for a foreigner friend? |
Travel Info What's the best gift for a Korean couple friend? Travel Tips You don't state which country you are in, although presumably not Korea. I think the best gift for friends who are from another country is something that reflects the best of your home culture. And I think it is often good if that is a consumable, or associated with a hobby you know the recipient loves. The closer you are, the more personal gift it can be. For example, I am American, and some of the gifts I have given foreigner friends include. - Maple Syrup, which is not really known well in Europe, and maple sugar candies - Good American wine (be careful if you are giving it to someone who lives in a wine country) - CDs of American gospel music, and a gospel-influenced hymnbook - for friends who I knew loved gospel music, and sang in a gospel choir in Germany - copies of the CD that my own church choir made. - a cross stitch sampler of a Navajo Blanket - for someone who had visited and loved the Grand Canyon area. - a bottle of fine dominican rum to a friend who loved rum and lived in Germany, the year after I visited the Dominican Republic. My brother gave his future in-laws (in Germany) an Elvis clock, where Elvis' hips sway to the ticking of the clock. You'd have to know someone really well to get by with something like that. lol, So whatever YOUR culture or home region is, think about what might be unique and a gift for that. Note that foodstuffs are limited by customs regulation, though packaged stuff like wine is usually fine. If you are Jamaican bring rum or jerk seasoning, if Indian, possibly a (relatively mild) spice mix, if Canadian, maybe smoked salmon or Ontario wines (or maple something), etc. etc. Others if they are here in the states try to order something online from there homeland that they may not has access to hear easily...like some kind of food and a print..if they are there then send them something from here they cant get there that they liked. anything u like because its not da gift that is seen its da heart. luxury goods besides the fact they're Korean, i think u should get them what u think will be useful for them based on the best u know of them as persons. Korean people like things that are useful to them. most of them dont want things that arent of much help. try getting them fragrances since those come from all parts of the world. if not, bath products. i think the fragrances can be classy gifts. vases are nice too, they can put flowers in them & decorate their home. they might like photo albums where they can save memories of themselves. gl! |
