Travel Info Are Korean weddings expensive? Travel Tips I think weddings all over the world are expensive. Others rich people have expensive weddings and poor people have less expensive weddings. There are rich and poor Koreans so some of their weddings are expensive and some are not Our family has a catering hall in the Detroit area, and I an tell you that there are a lot cheaper options in Seoul. Obviously, wealthier people spare no expense, but many of my husbands co-workers have had their weddings at "fantasy halls", and have options from 12,000Won per head and up. For 12,000Won, you might just have small appetizers, but you still get to use the hall. (12,000Won iss like $13 USD, more or less) Many wedding halls in Seoul are "themed".. the insides look like something out of DisneyWorld. The outside even has the turrets and palace-like decor. Inside, they have all types of backdrops for picture taking: castles, horses, etc. In most halls in the US, if you were going with simple appetizers, you would still pay a hall rental fee and bartender fees, etc, and it would add up to much more than $13/head, unless you were renting a VFW and bringing in your food. One wedding I went to here was just appetizers for an hour in the hall, then you left and another "appetizer wedding" came in for an hour... It is a way for everyone to be able to afford the Disney-like surrounding that seems so popular here. Koreans think that the weddings are the most important events of their lives. They spend all their money on weddings. so even if their rich or not, they spend weigh much money over their economic ability. I'm a korean expensive and boring.....guests don't really care that much about the proper attire as well as the ceremony, they would usually go to the restaurant, eat and leave. there's no party no dancing, no nothing! seriously....it's kinda depressing! |
