Why is everyone from Korea named Peter Lee? |
Travel Info Why is everyone from Korea named Peter Lee? Travel Tips I am Korean and my name is not Peter Lee. In fact, no one in my whole family is named Peter Lee nor do I know any other Koreans named Peter Lee. Besides all of that, Lee is not even the most common surname in Korea! Others good question. cause real korean names are so hard to pronounce that americans just call all koreans Peter Lee. it's not the real name, but you try speaking korean. i know someone called Jung Hwan Ahn I have never met a Korean called Peter (and I know tons of Koreans), let alone a Peter Lee. Lee is not a Korean surname. In Korean it is "Ee" Haha..It may seem that there are a lot of "Peter Lee"s that are Korean, but there are a lot of other names Korean Americans go by. Some popular boy's names: Peter John David Andrew Eric Thomas Some popular girl's names: Lisa Esther Judy Jenny Judith Diane/Diana Common last names: Lee Park Kim Choi Jung (These are just a few common ones, there are others) Not everyone is, I don't know anyone who is Korean named "Peter Lee." Not one, and I know a lot of Koreans, I'm one too... I think "Lee" is the second most common "last" name, "Kim" is most common. Like other responders mentioned, 'Lee' is one of those many Korean surnames that are mispelled / mispronounced, it's really supposed to be spelled & pronounced "Yi." There are still many Li-s in N. Korea. You just sound a little stereotypical, ofcourse not everyone from Korea is named Peter Lee. i guess you're just a little frustrated because of the people near you. [; anyway, there are many Korean guys that are named David too heh.. there are also Korean surnames such as Gim (Kim - many,) Bach (Park,) Jo (Cho,) Chweh (Choi,) etc. |
