What's the largest mountain in South Korea? |
Travel Info What's the largest mountain in South Korea? Travel Tips Do you mean like the largest mountain range? I think it's Mt. Baekdoo on Jeju Island.. I know it's definitely the highest but not really sure if it's the largest mountain range. http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.... Jirisan is the largest park but I doubt it's the largest mountain. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Maybe this site will have the answer... http://english.tour2korea.com/index.asp... Others Baekdoo Mountain is in NORTH Korea in the far north near the Chinese border. It is the highest mountain in ALL of Korea and considered the ancestral and spiritual home of the Korean people. It is 2744 metres (9,012 feet) high. The highest point in SOUTH Korea is Hallasan, an extinct volcano on Jeju Island off the southwest coast of South Korea. It is 1950 metres (6398 feet) high. I'll be hiking to the summit sometime in the next two weeks, so I've been doing research on this. the HIGHEST mountain in Korea is Baekdu-san (Baekdu mountain). It's located in the northern part of North Korea but is owned by both South and North Korea (by an agreement signed in 1962). The second highest mountain is Halla-san, located in Jeju-do (Jeju island), south of South Korea. The national anthem of South Korea would sing that Korea covers the area ranging from Baekdu-san to Halla-san. |
