Where do you think is better to travel: korea or japan? |
Travel Info & what do you think of their culture, food, and everything else. including the price. thanks(: Travel Tips Though I haven't been to Japan, I beg to disagree with the top person's answer. There's so much to see in Korea, just with the capital city Seoul, that would in itself take a week. Most people seem to think that since Korea is sandwiched in between China and Japan that the culture is a mix of the two. Instead, it is its own unique blend, a close knit country that is a mix of traditional and modern. Buddhism came before Christianity and if you are interested, there are hundreds of temples that dot across the country, mostly in mountains, but also in the cities. It's an interesting experience to go visit, there's even something called "Templestay" where you can stay in the temple from one day to a week. Here's the website for the locations of some temples, and more information: http://eng.templestay.com/ The food, I think, is one of the best parts about Korea. Seafood is a vital part of the food, since it is a peninsula, but there's something for everyone. If you are vegetarian, it's also easy to find vegetarian dishes in everyday meals. For meat-eaters, bulgogi and kalbi are popular choices. Here are two websites with tons more information than I could give you on the spot: http://www.trifood.com http://www.xanga.com/koreancooking... Korea is most definitely cheaper, in general, than Japan. Of course, if you are looking for luxury/expensive items, there is a Rodeo drive in Seoul (the capital), but if you are looking for a cheap and fun shopping experience, you MUST go to DongDaeMoon. Malls are also a different experience, they're often 7-9 stories tall, with every story a different "shopping category". As for the natural world, there are mountains for hiking, lakes, rivers, and of course, beaches! In terms of something exotic, even in Korea, I would recommend Jeju Island. Though it is a popular tourist attraction, and for honeymooners, it's just such a different experience from the rest of Korea that I would recommend it. It's at the southernmost tip of Korea, kind of like the way Hawaii is for the U.S. Anyway, hope that helps, you can message me if you need more information! Others As far as travel is concerned, Japan has more attractions than South Korea. A person could see most of the important sights in Korea in about a week, but it may take two or three weeks to see the majority of Japanese attractions. Both are interesting countries, so I don't think you will be disappointed by either. Culture: There are similarities, but each culture is distinct and unique, so neither is "better". Food: Both have very good food! Price: Korea is cheaper than Japan. Have fun wherever you choose! wow...see her another question in Japan section. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... btw. I prefer China to Korea if I travel. I agree with yupgigirl. I was going to write what she wrote but she beat me to the punch. I think she should definitely get best answer. Unlike Japan, Korea went through numerous wars inside its country & went through painful cultural shocks when it was colonized by another country. Therefore, one like the first responder might say that there are less attractions in Korea. If you go to Japan, however, there are several temples actually built soley by people from the Bekjeh dynasty of Korea who came over to help the Japanese. It is recorded in Japanese historical texts, but unfortunately, hidden to the public, so people have no idea. I believe the first Buddhist temple in Japan was in fact built by Bekjeh people. I think Korean culture is unique. Historical K-dramas such as 'DehJahngGeum' was very popular throughout Asia. I heard that Taiwan(?) added DehJahngGeum to their school history text books after the drama was aired. Since then, other Asians also like wearing hanbok (traditional Korean clothing.) Hallyu, which refers to Korean wave of entertainment abroad, continues to dominate. Korean media / electronics (LG, Samsung) are also gaining high-quality praises worldwide. I love Korean food. One has to try the diverse dishes in order to actually fall into it! Korean bbq is good. Customers in restaurants get to enjoy sitting down & cooking the meat themselves. Koreans like 'sahms' that is when they use diverse green leaves such as cabbage to wrap their cooked meats & eat it. That is also another popularity in Asia. |
