Is it possible to teach english in korea even though i'm not a native speaker? |
Travel Info i've been teaching english to koreans for almost 2 years now and i would like to apply a teaching job in korea but they usually hired native speakers. english is not my mother tongue but i've been speaking and studying it since kinder. Travel Tips The schools that I worked for (and those that I heard about) only hire teachers from native English speaking countries. It is also a requirement to have at least a university degree. If you have a university degree, then you can apply and see what happens. Others It seems like your Filipino from your profile. I'm under the impression that if you have to be from a Native speaking country such as the US, UK, Austraila, etc. As Adam has said you would also need a degree as well. I'm not sure if this will work but if you become a naturalized citizen of an Native speaking country then you might be able to teach English providing you have a degree from a University. Yes, my wife taught English in Korea, and she is not a native English speaker. Obviously good native speakers that can also teach earn more than their non-native counterparts, but non-native speakers who are good at teaching can catch up quickly. There is just so much demand to learn English in Korea that you shouldn't have any problem. Married a non-native English teacher. If you've spoken it since kindergarten, you are definitely a native speaker. Jongbong, I recommend that when you write to a forum and request information from teachers that you use proper capitalization. I am Korean and English is not my first language. |
