I will be in South Korea next week. Can I access my email with a DIAL-UP local number in Seoul? in Jeju? |
Travel Info I will be in Seoul for 3 days and in the town of JEJU on JEJU ISLAND for 4 days. I want to DIAL UP to YAHOO from there to get onto the web and to get my email. My email address is <budnitz @ pacbell.net>, and PACBELL is part of the YAHOO family. Travel Tips If you have internet you can get to the sign in page. Others yes. duh. first of all korea is like the nation with the most dsl lines per person in the world. 2nd there are internet cafes everywhere so you dont need dial up and they are about 1,000 won- 2,000 won...1-2 bucks an hour...cheaper if you go somewhere shady. and yes yes yes you can acces your email anywhere. koreans use yahoo too. The answer is no. There is no dial up number for PACBELL Yahoo service in Korea. They have their own agreement with Chollian to provide dial up service, and I am sure Pacbell users are not covered by this agreement. That said, Korea is years ahead of the states in Internet and is the most connected country in the world by far. It is far cheaper as another user suggested, to go to an Internet Cafe (usually marked by the letters PC) and us the Internet for about 2 bucks an hour (2,000 won). Also because you can get stateside style cable connections in your home for 8 bucks a month (8,000 won), most Koreans have broadband in their home (88% compared to a paltry 27% in the states). If you absolutely must do dialup, you will have to visit Yahoo in Seoul to do so. Here is their address: 靹滌毟韸闺硠鞁?臧曤偍甑? 靷检劚霃?144-19,20氩堨 JS韮€鞗?10F~15F (鞖? 135-090 Give it to a taxi driver and he can take you there. I am an American who has lived here for 8 years. |
