Is there rivalry between the people of North Korea and South Korea just as there is between India and Pakistan |
Travel Info There is rivalry between most of the people of India and Pakistan. Does a similar kind of rivalry exist between North korea and South Korea? Or do they coexist in peace? Travel Tips I wouldn't call it a rivalry since two rivals would need to have some grounds to compete on. North Korea focuses on getting international attention while South Korea sees its youth become lazier by the minute. Just completely different set of priorities and problems between two Koreas. Others north korea and south korea will never co-exist in peace. korea has a political conflict communism versus capitalism india and pakistan have a religious conflict I am not sure what rivalry exists between India and Pakistan. I know there is a strong hatred between the two, and no such anger exists between the two Koreas. Most South Koreans I know feel very sympathetic toward the impoverished northern neighbors. I've met several South Koreans that have been to North Korea in recent years, and one of them told me that North Koreans feel the same way toward South Koreans. She said the North Koreans she spoke with felt that South Koreans were being controlled by American imperialists and felt sorry for the Southern people. Most people believed that the two Koreas would reunite when Kim Il-Sung died in 1994, and again, when the South Korean president Kim Dae-jung visited Kim Jong-il in 2000. Though the dream of one united Korea may be far, still, I'm sure most Koreans hope to see the day when the two Koreas are together. I don't think any of my Pakistani friends nor Indian friends feel the same about each other. They were brothers with different ideology forcefully separated by the Americans. |
