How do friends of opposite sexes behave around each other in Korea? |
Travel Info In the U.S., males and females that are friends are playful with each other. Like, they play fight, tease each other, joke around, hug and stuff. Just wondering, is it the same as in Korea? Is it alright for friends that are male and female to hug each other and play fight or would that be considered improper? Would that be considered too intimate for friends of opposite genders? Travel Tips I teach at a Korean college. They are quite playful verbally with friends of the opposite sex and somewhat touchy, but it's not a hugging culture. If you're not Korean, I wouldn't initiate touching with Koreans let their actions guide yours. There is a new movement to promote hugging in Korea, which came from Germany. Yet some people don't want it to take hold as it's not an Asian tradition. Source(s): student's research papers, life experience. Other Travel Tips i am not quite sure becuase i havent lived in korea for a long time but i live in CA right now and the highschool that i go to is very asian dominated. As americans we would hug each other for greetings and i always did. One time i hugged one of my friends and one of the koreans (more korean like fobs..) saw me and was laughing... and was mocking me with her other friends. i believe that they use the hug greeting er...
