Travel Tips Usually you have to pay a building maintenance fee which can run anywhere from $10-$75 depending on what type of apartment you have and how nice it is. If you are going to teach, you probably will be responsible for paying this and your employer pays rent. Electricity is pretty cheap, for two people we pay between $15-17 per month in the winter and $35-40 in the summer (because we run the air conditioner). In our apartment we have gas for our stove and heating (including hot water) which runs about $8 during the summer and has gotten as high as $67 in the winter. Cable runs about $20 a month for basic Internet runs about $35-40 a month Food depends greatly on what you eat and whether you eat most of your meals at home or outside the house. If you eat at home and eat western style food (as I do) it will cost you about $100-120 a month. Fruits, vegetables and meat are expensive here as are any western products. There are Costco's here (thank god) so if you live in Seoul, Taegu or Taejon you probably should try to find one. I hope that helps! |
