Can I work and go to school in Korea on a working visa? |
Travel Info I am going to be teaching english in South Korea and was wondering if I could take Korean language classes at the same time with a working visa. Also, do you know of any good schools in Korea that will teach me how to speak Korean? Thanks! Travel Tips If you have a work visa, you can both work and take classes. I taught for the University of Maryland in Korea and was able to take other courses for the cost of the textbook only. You should have no problems, but watch out for "schools" promising a lot and delivering little. Work only for a reputable school. I'm sure you know this, but you cannot work under a Tourist Visa. Many people come to Korea under a tourist visa and then seek employment; this is OK IF you don't start work until after leaving Korea and returning under a work visa. Good luck! I really enjoyed teaching in Korea; the students are great (eager, well prepared, etc. unlike many in the U.S.). Others Yes, there are plenty of places you can take Korean courses either through an institute or university. You can also study on your own as well. I wouldn't worry about finding a place until you come over and get settled in. I've been teaching here for three years now, but am headed back to the US later this year. |
