What parental consent to I need to travel to South Korea? (17 years old)? |
Travel Info I am 17 years old, and will be traveling with a few friends (all 18 years old) to S. Korea for 10 days. I have a passport and all that. However, I'm wondering if I need any sort of parental consent to leave the country...? Travel Tips no just visit Others no you dont, passport, and birth cetificate Why South Korea, you shoudl go to North and youll probably get shot at, maybe placed in jail, even be a little hungary but I bet it would be better than south Korea. You could even bring a camcorder, record your events and bring it to Sundance next year. lol, just kidding yeah you'll need your parents to authorize some documentation which you can find pretty easily online. I dont do drugs, lol Cheers Can either of your parents sign the release form? If you cannot tell them you are leaving the country, then it sounds as though something is amiss. JMO (I am a mom and would just freak if my kid left for 10 days and I didn't know!) Your 18 year old friends, unfortunately, can be charged with kidnapping and taking a minor (you) across not only state lines but international ones as well. So unless you have your parents signed consent, they could decide to press charges, and Federal authorities could easily get involved. Imagine that. Now if your parents are deceased or you are emancipated then just have that documentation with you. I believe a blood relative, such as an aunt could fill out and sign thr form stating they have legal custody. Essentially, an adult must release you at the gate and you will only be released to an adult overseas. My minor child traveled from the Midwest to California and I had to sign papers and had to name my sister in California as her guardian. But since you are traveling with adults, they can act as you legal guardian once you land. A parent, grandparent or legal guardian must vouch for you upon departure and upon return to the states. One more thing, call the airline and explain your situation, whatever it is and they can help you too. Good luck and happy travels!! not sure... i went to France (from England) last year (at 16) with people 18+19 and i don't remember needing consent. i mean i had it - they sorted out tickets etc.. but i don't remember them like specifically signing consent or anything. Uhh better to phone up and check i guess. Some hostels/hotels might not let you stay? but probably will as your with older people. but again - better to check right? Haha if you don't have consent - better make sure they don't do a missing person thing - don't want to mess with korean police.. Have fun :) Some countries and even airlines do ask for the parental consent form so, just to be on the safe side, have your parents sign one and bring it with you.
