Question for Koreans, when somebody dies, is there a funeral on the same day of the person's death? |
Travel Info I am asking because a famous Korean actress (Jung da bin) died today, and a funeral was already held today. Travel Tips it depends on what the family would want to do... I'm also sad about what happened to jung, i really like her very much especially on the movie He Was Cool. I was really shock and sad about it...I read her last 2 entries in her blog, it was quite depressing... Let's just pray for her... Others No. after 3 days. Typically, there is a 2 - 3 day delay to allow for funeral preparations (and relatives to arrive). Today, many people in Korea are cremated and the ashes spread over their favorite place, so this takes some planning. Also, there is a ritual to Korean funerals - fruit laid out in front of a picture of the deceased, bowing to the memory of the person before the picture, wearing traditional white clothes - all taking some time to prepare. That being said, embalming is not common in Korea, so the funeral is usually fairly soon after death. Helped with my wife's brother's funeral in Korea. it matter because of our religion. I am Christian and I never do like that yes. if someone dies in Korea, we need to finish within 3 days before body starts to decompose. so you have funeral on the same day and next day, you bury. very quick! I guess it depends on the family's decisions. |
