Travel Info If i'm going to korea what specific places shouldn't i miss to visit? Travel Tips The beautiful Korean palaces, Seoul Tower, Jeju-do Island, Seorak Mountain and the restaurants. Others the nuclear test site In Seoul: Kyungbok Palace, Changduk Palace, National Museum, Namsan and Namsan Tower, Dongdaemoon Shopping area. For shows, Sheraton Walker Hill and Sejong Center. In rest of country: Korea Folk Village at Suwon, Jeju Island, Kyungju, Taegu, Pusan, etc. It all depends on how much time you have. Korea is a fascinating country with 5000 years of history. "Insa-dong"- Palace Gyeongbokgung "Market Namdaemun" "Market Dongdaemun"- the center of the fashion "Mt. Namsan"-the summit of the night view of Seo煤l. You shouldn't miss visiting Seoul and Jeju-Island. In Seoul, be sure to go visit the palaces and shrines, they are very beautiful. Go to Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, COEX Mall, Lotte World, Everland for shopping and amusement rides. In Jeju-Island, be sure to visit the filming site of Jewel in the Palace and visit the Teddy bear museum, which is very famous too. I strongly recommend the take the DMZ tour. This is an escorted tour to the Demilitarized Zone, that separates North from South Korea. You will come face to face with North Koreans, who are trained from birth to hate you, and will kill you without hesitation if told to do so. You will get goosebumps numerous times while there. I have taken this tour previously; it's spooky !! But, it's very informative. If you're lucky on the day you go, you might be able to stand on the North Korean side (inside) of the building which held the Armistice talks. You will constantly have North Korean Guards stare at you with hatred in their eyes. If the opportunity presents itself, definitely purchase for yourself one of the DMZ Barbwire Plaques. These were issued on the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War. Be sure you get one with a serial number!! I believe they will become extremely valuable once North Korea implodes upon itself. It totally depends on what you enjoy doing. If you're looking for history, the short list would include Kyungbuk palace, the National Museum, and War Memorial museum (all day trip) in Seoul. Independence Memorial Hall is one of my favorites but it's a ways outside of Seoul and not so easy to get to. A trip to Kyeongju on the far side of the peninsula would be good as well. If you like shopping, in Seoul, you go to Insadong (little pricey, good variety of interesting stuff), Namdaemun market (cheaper, less variety), or Yongsan market (electronics). If you're looking for nice scenery, Seoraksan on the east coast and Jeju Island (in particular Sunrise Peak) are probably your best bets. |
