What is the traditional baby gift for a Korean's first birthday? |
Travel Info What is the traditional baby gift for a Korean's first birthday? Travel Tips my father in-law always give gold as a gift. it can be a ring or a necklace. and according to him... people from old days used to do that. perhaps it's traditional. but as years passes. people become practical that they give money instead, which can be more helpful & easy to use. in addition to that korean people are getting more & more busy these days that they don't & won't find time to go shopping mall to buy gift... so they just give money & put them in an envelope like what my husband & i normally do. Others Money. I know that the 100 day gift is the special clothes, which he wore on his first birthday. We did the traditional 1st birthday table with items on it that he chose that "predict his future" such as coins, dates, rice, pens, books, etc. Im not sure there is a traditional first birthday gift, but I dont know that much about it. A bamboo teether. LOL money in an envelope. the smallest being 50,000 Won, it can go higher, but not smaller. it's traditional... i would have preferred toys for my squirt.. but we got cash instead. had my baby's first birthday. we received loads of cash (^.~) Traditionaly they buy a 24k gold rings for baby. ( If you go to jewelry shop they have so many type of baby gold ring for 1 year birthday's. I am not sure nowadays though.) But I guess these days they give them money envelope or baby stuff. |
